These days there are computers and printers everywhere, not only in offices and other businesses but in schools and many homes. More than likely before investing in the equipment, you spent time evaluating all your options so you got just the right equipment for the job. Samsung is often seen as a leader in the industry for giving the consumer the technology necessary for obtaining the best printing results.

The same is true for replacement ink cartridges or toners for your printer. Getting the results wanted and value for money are two big prerequisite for most people. Samsung toner cartridges are used in Samsung laser printers while ink cartridges are used in inkjet printers. Whichever you use, Samsung manufactures both types of cartridges, with toners growing in popularity and coming down in price.

While inkjet cartridges usually contain liquid ink, toner cartridges contain powdered ink that is electronically charged. Toners rely on the high heat that laser printers use to melt the pigments before they are sprayed as a fine mist onto the paper. This process ensures the ink won’t run or bleed thereby producing professional, vivid, full colour documents and yields of between 3000-7000 printed pages.

Two basic types of toner cartridges are manufactured: OEM (original equipment manufacturer) and compatibles. Both have their advantages along with their relevant prices. Being made by and carrying a warranty from the manufacturer generally means the OEM toner will work faultlessly with the printer for which it was made and the printing results will be exactly as the printer manufacturer says.

Compatibles are another matter in both price and quality. While they may be made by Samsung to their high standards, or they are made by a third party who may not impose the same quality nor gives the same yield or printing results. Many compatibles are perfectly adequate for the job but some are so poorly made they don’t fit properly and extremely cheap ink is used.

There is also the re-manufactured cartridge which is one that has been cleaned, refilled and resealed. These generally use toner cartridge cases that have been recycled and can often be a very good answer to the problem of having to replace an empty cartridge without paying top price for a new one. As long as the ink used is up to standards, a re-manufactured cartridge should give you the same results and yields as the OEM.

One way to ascertain the results you’ll get when using an OEM, compatible or re-manufactured replacement cartridge is to purchase one of each, test them on the same type of printing jobs and see which gives the best results.

It is of course always up to the owner of the printer as to which criteria they use when replacing their toner cartridges – price or quality

When you first bought your printer, you no doubt thought you had got a good value product, as printers are not really that expensive. But when you first had to replace your q6000a or other cartridge you may have had a shock. Not only did it not seem to have lasted very long, but the cost of replacing it seemed to be nearly as much as the printer cost in the first place. So is there anything you can do about this?

To begin with, whether you are using a q6000a or any other printer cartridge, the fact is that when your printer sends you a message saying your printer is out of ink, there is often actually quite a lot left in it, sometimes as much as 50 percent. This means that when you dispose of the cartridge you are wasting about half of the ink you paid for. Those with the biggest wastage are multi-ink cartridge models, those with different colors in the same cartridge. In these, when only one color runs out, you have to replace the whole cartridge.

One thing you can try when you get this message is to take out the cartridge and give it a good shake. This will spread the ink or toner more evenly and give you a lot more printing. But you have to beware of continuing to print when the print is faint, as you risk burning out the printer head.

When you need to replace your q6000a or other cartridge, many people suggest that instead of buying the same brand, you can save money by buying generic cartridges on the Internet. But when doing this you have to be very careful. Not all the sites are trustworthy and not all will sell you a good quality cartridge. You also have to make sure it is the right one for your printer. You need to key in the make and model of your printer and hope they will send you one that is compatible. If they get it wrong you will not be able to use it, and you risk damaging your printer. Another possibility is to refill your q6000a cartridge. This is an extremely messy business and if you overfill or if it leaks, you are in trouble. You can in fact buy recycled cartridges, which are used ones which the manufacturer has refilled with their own ink. This saves money, but doesn’t always get good results.

In fact most of these attempts to economize are really a false economy. Cartridges like the q6000a are only designed to be used once and the process of refilling, either by you or someone else, could damage it and your printer. Most people accept that original cartridges get the best results. But a single recycling is not likely to damage your printer beyond repair so you could always try it and see for yourself. You can always find discount toner at 247inktoner.com for most manufactured printers.

LKSuperDuke asked:

Dell printers are made by Lexmark and Samsung. They are altered slightly so that Lexmark@ and Samsung@ toner and ink cartridges will not fit in Dell printers. This is so Dell can have a totally captive market for Printing Services, and the end user pays through the nose. For example, Dell sells a particular cartridge for $138, and they don’t want you to have a choice. But you can buy compatible cartridges for Dell printers from other companies, and save big bucks (usually about half!), and you won’t have to wait 3 days for it! A couple of companies that do this are www.staples.com and www.wordcom.com. Dell wants to own you (as far as technology is concerned). You should demand of Dell that they allow other distribution channels to carry their consumables. Get a top quality printer from Brother.co.uk

Louise Wasa asked:

Most of the all in one printers are of now of high quality, and the prices have come down considerably. So buying a printer can be a complicated business but you can make it easy and ask for recommendations and just pick one. Although there are more shapes, sizes and types of printers available to the home and small business user than ever before, the competition has made us many excellent printers to choose from. OK, there are many different types of printers on the market today, but still the inkjet printer is the dominant force.

You can now find a number of inkjet printers on the market that are capable of deploying dye-sublimation techniques. Although there are a number of affordable models available, some of the best CD label printers can cost more than a thousand dollars. Therefor the ink jet printers, though the slowest type of printer, are also the most affordable.

There are various type of CD printers available in the market today, the manual, automated and integrated printers. As those are a bit more costly you still have several great alternatives with ink jet printers, monochrome laser printers and color laser printers.

The bar code label printers are the most common dot matrix, laser, ink jet and thermal printers. The advantage with direct thermal printers compared to thermal transfer printers is that they do not require the mechanisms and electronics that are necessary to control and run an ink ribbon. On the other hand, direct thermal and thermal transfer printers require print software and an optional bar code label design.

Inkjet printers are a good choice for many as they have a lower initial purchase cost. They will cost more to run though as the ink is more expensive when measured on a per page basis. Another alternative is the toner cartridges for laser printers. They have a higher unit price than inkjet cartridges, on the other hand they have a higher capacity so that the cost per page is lower for lasers.

Nowadays we can purchase an inkjet printer at a much lower price than all the other up-to-date printers. But, as said before they have higher maintenance cost than laser printers. With all the fantastic technology offered in laser, color and photo quality printers you can also get the all-in-one printers. All in one printers offer scanning, printing, copy and fax to amazingly low prices. Around $100 is really a good bargain for the functionality you get.

There is still some way to go until the modern technology has taken over completely. In many offices we still have to use an older technology, critical to running many of the day to day business operations. Traditionally, the laser printers have been the best printing solution for office users as they produce a very high quality black text finish and to relatively low running costs. For now the monochrome laser printers offer the best balance between print quality, price and speed.

The prices of all in one printers and others are so low now that the manufacturers do not make any profit on them or very little profit. Selling the ink and toner cartridges over and over is where the manufacturers make the money.
